Update: 15-year-old charged – 11-year-old Kyhara Tay killed by a stray bullet in the Bronx

NYPD responded to the report of a shooting on May 16th at 995 Westchester Avenue at approximately 5:00pm

Kyhara Tay, 11, was located by emergency crews suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Kyhara ran into a nail salon for help and passed out. Paramedics rushed her to Lincoln Hospital, where she died of her injuries late Monday night.

Police said surveillance footage shows a man running down a sidewalk while being chased by two people on a scooter. The scooter passenger fired several shots toward the man, and one stray bullet traveled half a block and struck Kyhara.

A gofundme campaign has been created to give Kyhara Tay a  help memorial and support her family.

Update:
A 15-year-old boy, whose name was not released, was taken into custody, at approximately 2:00am on May 20th. The teen has been charged with murder, manslaughter and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon. Police continue to search for the second suspect who is believed to be 14-years old.
