NYPD were called to the area of of East 26th Street and Park Avenue South at about 10:41 p.m. on Dec. 15.
On arrival Police and paramedics located 18-year-old Denzel Bimpey, of the Bronx, who was stabbed multiple times in the chest, shoulder, and forearm. He was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased shortly after arriving.
According to reports, Bimpey, who does not belong to a gang, and a bunch of students were in Syracuse en route to Manhattan when a group of students from Onondaga College accused Bimpey of being part of a crew.
Police said Bimpey was attacked and brutally stabbed by a group of ‘Six Block’ gang members.
Police arrested a 19-year-old man, who was taken in for questioning. Police say they are still looking into a possible second suspect.
Update on December 22, the NYPD announced that they were looking for 18-year-old Thierno Bah in connection to the death of Bimpey.
