NYPD responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting at the East 182nd Street and Grand Concourse Subway Station on February 23rd at approximately 5:00am.

Police and paramedics arrived to find 45-year-old William Alvarez unconscious with a gunshot wound to his torso. She was rushed to Saint Barnabas Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

Investigators said they are searching for at least three suspects who were wearing all black.

Update: The NYPD identified the three suspects as 24-year-old Justin Herde, 38-year-old Betty Cotto, and 42-year-old Alfredo Trinidad — each of whom were taken into custody on Feb. 26. According to reports Herde told reporters “I had to, it was self-defense”. All three are charged with murder, manslaughter, and criminal possession of a weapon.
