7-Month-Old Fatally Shot in East Williamsburg; Two Men Arrested

NYPD said a 7-month-old girl was hit in the head by a stray bullet while her mother was pushing her stroller near Humboldt and Moore Streets in East Williamsburg around 1:20 p.m., on April 1st.

According to reports, the mother ran into a nearby bodega with her baby still in the stroller. Once inside, she realized her child had been struck and was bleeding.

She quickly rushed the infant about seven blocks to Woodhull Hospital, but tragically, the baby did not survive.

Amari Greene, 21, was arrested after the moped he was on crashed near the scene. Both Greene and the driver, who fled, were thrown from the moped. Greene was injured in the crash, and taken to hospital where he was taken into custody. He is a known gang affiliate from the Marcy Houses public housing complex in New York.

Authorities said the shooter was one of two men on a moped. The gunman had long hair and wore a light-colored hoodie, while the second man wore a dark-colored hoodie.

Update: The second suspect, 18-year-old Matthew Rodriguez is currently being held in the Keystone State and is awaiting extradition to New York, where he will face charges that have not yet been announced.
