Update: additional arrests made – A 1-year-old child dies from fentanyl exposure at Bronx daycare

According to reports 1-year-old Nicholas Dominici, and 2 other infants stopped breathing after being exposed to fentanyl on Friday September 15th at a Bronx Daycare.

The children were taken to hospital where the 2-year-old boy and an eight-month-old girl were saved with Narcan, 1-year-old Nicholas Dominici died from the exposure.

A gofundme campaign has been created to help the family with funeral arrangements.

Grei Mendez, 36, the owner of Divino Nino daycare, and Carlisto Acevedo Brito, 41, were arrested and charged with murder, depraved indifference, drug possession, manslaughter, possession of a controlled substance, four counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Police announced on September 26th, the husband of Grei Mendez, Felix Herrera Garcia was caught on video fleeing the Divino Nino daycare with several bags containing fentanyl just before Nicholas was discovered. Garcia was arrested on a bus in Mexico headed to the city of Culiacan following an 11 day manhunt.

Renny Antonio Parra Paredes, 38, has also been arrested and was charged in federal court in Manhattan with one count of conspiracy to distribute narcotics resulting in death on September 25th.Â
