NYPD was called to an apartment on Monticello Avenue on March 5th at approximately 11:50 pm after a family member called for a wellness check.

Police arrived to find Gabrielle Muniz, 26, and her 6-year old daughter Rozara Estevez suffering from stab wounds. Both mother and daughter were pronounced at the scene. According to multiple reports, Gabrielle suffered multiple stab wounds to her head, back, and arms, and Rozara suffered blunt force trauma to the head, as well as stab wounds to the face. Investigators said they found multiple knives in the apartment.

Police closed in on the victim’s ex-boyfriend Caleb Duberry, 34, on March 6th, Duberry barricaded himself inside an apartment a few blocks away, and allegedly committed suicide.
