NYPD were called to East 170th Street and College Avenue in Claremont on August 27th at approximately 12:20am on the report of a shooting.

Police said a 37-year-old woman who was in the drivers seat of a vehicle was shot in the head, and a 43-year-old man was shot in the leg in the passenger seat. The woman was rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased. The male victim was also taken to the hospital but is allegedly being uncooperative. Police said the surviving victim is known to authorities.

No arrests have been made at this time.
