NYPD responded to an assault in progress on E. 152nd St. near Concord Ave, on September 25th at approximately 12:40pm.

On arrival police located 37-year-old, Andre Huertas, suffering from trauma to the head. A blood-covered hammer was recovered in a bathroom at the crime scene, and police believe it to be the murder weapon. Heutas was taken to hospital where he died of his injuries a few hours later.

The suspect Felix Perez, 49, was the one who called 911 for medical help, allegedly explaining that he attacked Andres Huertas. Police located Perez at the Prospect Avenue subway stop in emotional distress. Perez has been charged with murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon.
