NYPD responded to report of a shooting at the corner of East Tremont and Belmont Avenues in Crotona, on February 19th at approximately 3:17pm.

Police and paramedics arrived to find Angel Ortega, 44, suffering from gunshot wounds to his back. Ortega was rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he died of his injuries.

No arrests have been made. Anyone with information regarding the murder can call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS (for Spanish, dial 888-57-PISTA).

Update February 23rd:
Jose Santos, 43, was arrested on February 21st, and charged with murder and gun possession.
