Police said a 55-year-old Bronx woman has died following a brutal assault inside her hospital room, raising serious concerns about patient safety.
Cynthia Vann had been admitted to Lincoln Hospital on September 10 for treatment related to a liver condition. While recovering, she was reportedly attacked by her hospital roommate, who punched her multiple times in the head while she slept. The injuries were so severe that she required emergency brain surgery.
Vann remained in critical condition for over two weeks before passing away on September 27. The city’s medical examiner has ruled her death a homicide caused by blunt force trauma.
The suspect, believed to be another patient at the hospital, fled the facility shortly after the attack and has not yet been apprehended. Police are still searching for the individual.
