NYPD responded to a wellness check at the residence on Sterling Place around 6:30 p.m. on June 22. A man’s family contacted officers from the 77th Precinct after they were unable to reach him over the weekend.
Inside the home, police found the man lying unresponsive on the bedroom floor. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene.
Investigators say the man had suffered blunt force injuries to his face, though there were no signs of forced entry into the apartment. The Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to determine the official cause of death. The man’s identity has not yet been released.
