NYPD responded to a 911 call for a wellness check at 2272 2nd Ave on April 23rd at approximately 6:11 p.m. 

On arrival police located 31-year-old Melanie Woods unconscious and unresponsive in her bathtub, suffering from multiple stab wounds. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A gofundme campaign has been created to help her family.

On April 25th NYPD arrested Candido Rodriguez, 51, of West 22nd Street in Chelsea, on charges of first-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon. Rodriguez was reportedly the ex boyfriend of Woods, who had been asked many times to stay away.
