Update: arrest made – Chinese Food Delivery Driver fatally shot in Queens

NYPD Responded to the report of gunshots at the corner of 108th St. and 67th Drive, about two blocks northeast of Queens Blvd on April 30th at 9:34pm.

On arrival police located 45-year-old Zhiwen Yan suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. He was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Police said the man on his way to his next drop off when he was struck on his scooter. Police said “It’s not clear if the suspect was aiming at someone else and hit the deliveryman or if he was just letting rounds off.”

A gofundme campaign has been created in his honor.

The suspect fled in a light grey or tan sedan, that sped off east toward Queens Blvd. No arrests have been made at this time.

Update May 3rd
Kai Yang, the owner of The Great Wall where Yan worked told The Post that the disgruntled customer who is sought for questioning had previously been in a rage over the amount of duck sauce he got with an order last year, and they’ve had more disturbing encounters with the 50-year-old customer/suspect.

Update June 2nd
NYPD arrested Glenn Hirsch, 51, on June 1st at his Briarwood apartment at approximately 8:30pm. He was charged with murder and criminal possession of a loaded firearm. According to police, Hirsch circled the block of the restaurant multiple times, before following Yan, 45, as he drove off to make a delivery. Hirsch has an ongoing grievance with the restaurant over being shorted duck sauce back in 2021.

Update August 5th
Glenn Hirsch was found dead in his Queens NYC home on August 5th after failing to show up for his court appearance. The accused’s lawyer Arthur Aidala, said Hirsch shot himself.
