Cristobal Alfredo Ixquier Mejia, mistaken for a Blood, fatally shot in Queens

NYPD responded to the report of a shooting in Queens on January 7th at approximately 10:pm. 

Police said Cristobal Alfredo Ixquier Mejia, 19, was hanging outside 147th Place and Jamaica Avenue when he was approached by a man who asked if he was a Blood. Ixquier Mejia, (pictured) who was wearing a red jacket at the time, was shot in the chest. He was rushed to Jamaica hospital where he was pronounced deceased. 

Police arrested 20-year-old Shareese Smith, of Brooklyn. He was charged with murder as well as possession of a weapon. Police have not released if the victim or suspect had any gang ties.
