Daniel Hyden charged in connection to a July 4th Lower East Side crash that killed three people and injured six others

Daniel Christopher Hyden, 44, is allegedly responsible for driving while intoxicated. Hyden was behind the wheel of his truck when he crashed into Lower East Side’s Corlears Hook Park at approximately 8:55 p.m. on July 4, while people were having a barbecue.

 NYPD Chief of Department Jeffery Maddrey said. “Right now, we do not feel this is a terrorism-related event. We do believe alcohol played a role in this.”

The victims have been identified as Lucille Pinkney, 59, and Hernan Pickney, 38; the third victim’s identity is being withheld pending next of kin notification.

According to reports Hyden is facing charges of aggravated vehicular homicide, assault and manslaughter, as well as driving while intoxicated.
