The NYC 2023 Homicide Victim List is available here

NYPD responded to a report of an assault at 3090 Ocean Avenue on January 5th at approximately 9:00pm.

On arrival police located Levan Galdava, 42, with head trauma and gunshot wounds to his torso. Police said he was struck in the head with a heavy blade (hatchet) and repeatedly shot in the chest. Galdava was rushed to Coney Island Hospital, where he died of his injuries.

The victim’s 44-year-old girlfriend was crying at his side and pointed out her ex, Dmytro Lapko to police. The murder weapons were retrieved at the scene, and Lapko was charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
