Edison Cruz charged with murder at a NYC smoke shop that left 1 dead, 2 injured

NYPD were called to the report of a shooting at a Smoke shop located on East Burnside Avenue near Grand Concourse in Mount Hope on May 3rd.

According to police the altercation began at a Taco Bell where the shooter works and where the victim and others were being disorderly. They were thrown out twice, and the second time Edison Cruz, 25, followed them to a smoke shop where he opened fire.

The 31-year-old victim, was struck in the head and upper torso and pronounced dead on scene. A man and a woman were also shot and taken to hospital where the woman remains in critical condition.

Cruz was arrested and charged with murder in the second degree, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon. NYPD said the murder weapon was a ghost gun that was recovered nearby at Tremont and East Jerome avenue.
