On July 6th Errick Persaud, 24, was driving a black Mercedes-Benz when he sped through a red light at the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and Lefferts Boulevard. Persaud smashed into a NYC Department of Environmental Protection truck, ejecting 36-year-old Michael Rodriguez from the vehicle.

Rodriguez was pinned beneath the wreckage. EMS rushed him to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center where he died of his injuries.

Following the collision Persaud took a breathalyzer, that indicated he had a blood alcohol content of .134%. Persaudnahs charged with manslaughter and driving under the influence.
