John Legendre has been charged with concealment of a human corpse after a bag of human remains was found in the basement of a Queens home

NYPD responded to a home at 217-05 138th Ave. in Laurelton around 5:45pm on June 18th after the homeowner Gilbert Legendre, 65, (identified by the daily news) discovered the bag while cleaning the basement.

According to reports Gilbert discovered the bag in a hole in the ground under boards of plywood after noticing a foul odor. Police have not released the victim’s identity, however, they believe it may be the girlfriend of John Legendre. John is the son of Gilbert and lives in the basement. The cause of death is pending examination by the city medical examiner.

At this time, police have charged John Legendre with concealment of a human corpse and tampering with evidence.
