NYPD responded to the report of a deceased man in the hallway of an apartment on 674 East 136th St. at around 6:40 a.m. on Nov. 26th.

On arrival police located 38-year-old Jonathan Rivera deceased in the 1st floor hallway. According to reports police were made aware that a person may have barricaded themselves inside an apartment near where Rivera was found. upon entrance to the home police located 33-year-old Hanoi Peralta and her 5-year-old child Kayden Rivera deceased. Both Peralta and her son were suffering from multiple stabbing injuries.

According to reports Jayden Rivera, 19, was babysitting Kayden Rivera, on the night of the murders while his dad, and Hanoi went out for a date night. Hanoi was discovered on a bed with 15 stab wounds to the back, seven to her chest and four more to the face. The 5-year-old was stabbed eight times in the torso before being disemboweled. The father was stabbed once in the chest, slashed on the head and had defensic=ve wounds on his hands.

Following the attack it has been reported by NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny that Jayden returned to his mother’s residence to say he believed the three innocent victims were going to kill him before acknowledging he “did something wrong,” and that he was hearing voices. His mother admitted him to the psychiatric ward approximately four hours before the bodies were found.
