Joseph Gomez charged in the fatal stabbing of Luis Cartagena in the Bronx

NYPD responded to a 911 report of a stabbing outside a home in the 3200 block of Radio Drive at approximately 3:17 a.m. on July 4th.

On arrival police located Luis Cartagena, 26, suffering from knife wounds to his torso. He was rushed the wounded victim to Jacobi Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Police learned that Cartagena was with his girlfriend, when her ex arrived and a verbal argument escalated to the fatal stabbing. The suspect allegedly stabbed Cartagena and then fled the scene in a vehicle.

As a result of the investigation Joseph Gomez, 21, was arrested and faces charges of murder, manslaughter, assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
