NYPD were called to an attack at a second floor of an apartment at 531 52nd St on August 24th at approximately 3 p.m.

On arrival police located Zhao Zhao, 43, her son, 5, and her daughter, 3, suffering from stab wounds. Paramedics rushed all three victims to NYU Langone Hospital where the mother was pronounced deceased.

According to reports Zhao and her children shared a room in the three bedroom apartment. Liyong Ye, 47, and his 9-year-old son lived in another room, and a third person in the last room. Chief Chell said, that Ms. Zhao and Mr. Ye were not related.

Ye was arrested at the scene. Charges against the man remain pending, Chief Chell said. 

Update September 27th
Liyong Ye, 47, was arraigned in Brooklyn Supreme Court on charges of second-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
