Man Fatally Shot in Canarsie; NYPD Investigating First Homicide of the Year in 69th Precinct

A deadly shooting occurred around 1:52 a.m. on June 6 near the intersection of Rockaway Parkway and Avenue N in the Canarsie neighborhood of Brooklyn, according to police.

Officers from the 69th Precinct arrived at the scene after receiving a 911 call about a shooting and discovered a 42-year-old man who had been shot in the back. Authorities said the victim was still conscious and able to communicate at the time.

He was taken by emergency responders to Brookdale University Hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Police have not yet released his name, as they are in the process of notifying his family. It’s also unclear whether he lived in the area.

So far, no suspects have been identified, and investigators have not determined a motive. No arrests have been made, and the investigation is still underway.
