NYPD said 31-year-old Marquis Lane was involved in an argument with his son’s mother at the corner of Park Avenue and East 167th Street on February 7th at approximately 9:00am.

During the argument, Lane was shot by a man who is known to the child’s mother. According to reports Lane attempted to hide under a car, however, he sustained a gunshot wound to the chest.

Lane was rushed to Lincoln Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased. Both the suspect and the child’s mother fled the scene.

Update: Aaron Rene, 30, has been arrested on February 21st and charged with murder.
