MTA employee fatally shoots a man who broke into his apartment

NYPD were called to an apartment in the area of Pulaski Street near Malcolm X Boulevard in Brooklyn on the report of a shooting on November 17th.

It is alleged that LaShawn Craig, 45, who is a MTA employee, Military vet, and landlord, came home to find Timothy Jones, 64, inside his apartment. Jones had a taser, and was wearing a mask and gloves. According to reports Craig saw Jones reach into his pocket when Craig decided to open fire, striking Jones in the torso. He was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries.

Craig was arrested on November 19th, and charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, one a felony and the other a misdemeanor, and criminal possession of a firearm charge. The shooting death is being investigated as a justified homicide due to self-defense.
