NYPD responded to an attack at East 205th Street and Decatur Avenue in the Norwood section on July 21st at approximately 1:15pm.

It has been reported that 35-year-old Nathaniel Rivers, had just parked his car when he was approached by 19-year-old Franklin Mesa. Rivers and Mesa became involved in a verbal altercation that escalated to the stabbing of Rivers.

As Rivers was being stabbed in the abdomen his wife grabbed a prybar and began hitting the suspect. Rivers was rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he died of his injuries.

Franklin Mesa was arrested a few blocks away, and charged with murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon.
