The NYC 2023 Homicide Victim List is available here

Police responded to the report of a shooting outside Midway Deli and Grill on Avenue L on April 17th at approximately 4:15 p.m.

The victim, 24-year-old Nelson Ortiz, who lived a block away from the scene, was found suffering from gunshot injuries to the torso.

Ortiz ws rushed to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.

Investigators said two suspects fled the scene prior to police arrival. They have been described as having dark complexions, one suspect wearing a yellow sweater and yellow sneakers, and the other was wearing a blue hooded shirt with yellow stripes.
