NYPD arrest a man in connection to a fatal stabbing in Harlem on New Year’s Day.

NYPD said Darnell Jackson, 39, attacked Alfredo Cortes, 72, at approximately 4:21 a.m. in the area of West 137th Street and Lenox Avenue on January 1st.

Police and paramedics located Cortes suffering from a serious slash wound to his neck. He was rushed to Harlem Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.

Police arrested Jackson near the scene, originally as a person of interest, however, he was charged with second-degree murder following questioning.
