The NYC 2023 Homicide Victim List is available here

NYPD responded to the report of a shooting in the area of E. 183rd Street and Bathgate Avenue around 1:30 p.m on February 26th.

On arrival police located 25-year-old Achilles Baskin suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. He was rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital where he died of his injuries.

No arrests have been made at this time.

Baskin was previously considered a hero in 2011 when he was 14 years old. He tried to stop two pranksters from tossing a shopping cart from a parking garage that ended up injuring Manhattan philanthropist Marion Hedges.
