Update: Handyman arrested – Orsolya Gaal found murdered in a duffle bag on Metropolitan Ave.

NYPD said the body of Orsolya Gaal, 51, was found covered in blood, inside a duffle bag by a sidewalk on Metropolitan Ave. near Forest Park Drive on April 16th at approximately 8:10am. An autopsy revealed the cause of death to be approximately 58 sharp force injuries to her neck, torso and left arm.

Police followed a trail of blood to the victim’s home on Juno Street. Once at her home police found Gaal’s 13-year-old son alone, who said he didn’t know where she was. Police questioned the teen in the case and released him.

The victim’s husband Howard Klein, was traveling out of state, and posted on social media from Portland, Ore., at 1:36 a.m. Friday, saying he was at an airport preparing to fly back to New York with their older son.

According to New York Daily News “Orsolya Gaal, 51, returned to her Juno St. home in Forest Hills about 11 p.m. Friday after a night out with friends “and at 4:30 in the morning (Saturday), somebody’s pulling that bag down the street,””

Police are reviewing video footage to determine who the suspect is. Information will be added as it becomes available.

Update April 21st
Handyman David Bonola, 44, was arrested April 21th after police visited his South Richmond Hill home. Police said it is unclear if the victim let him in or if he used the hidden spare key that he knew about to enter the home around 12:30 a.m. Saturday.

Police said Bonola and Gaal got into a heated argement that escallated into a brutal murder. The victim’s son was home at the time of the murder, however, he was sleeping the entire time. The murder weapon was a steak knife and was recovered at the scene.

Investigators said Bonola put Gaal’s body into a hockey bag belonging to her son before dragging it to where she was located, before fleeing through Forest Park. Police discovered a jacket they believe he was wearing during the crime. Boots, a t-shirt and bloody bandages at a secondary location.

According to reports the victim had an on-and-off affair with David Bonola, 44, the family’s hadyman over the past few years. Police believe they enough evidence to successfully charge Bonola for the murder.
