The incident occurred on January 18, at approximately 8:32 p.m., when officers responded to a 911 call reporting an assault in progress on Norfolk Street, near Essex Market.
On arrival, police located 20-year-old Amir Smith, who was discovered with a stab wound to the abdomen, while a 19-year-old man had been stabbed in the back. Both victims were quickly transported to Bellevue Hospital, where Smith was pronounced dead. The 19-year-old is expected to recover and is listed in stable condition.
Police recovered a knife at the scene. Two individuals were taken into custody for questioning.
