NYPD responded to a 911 report of a possible robbery at Manor Deli & Convenience, 444 Manor Road on July 8th at approximately 7:53 p.m.

Police arrived to find 35-year-old Bassam Khateeb, an employee suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. He was rushed to Richmond University Medical Center where he died of his injuries.

Police are searching for two suspects who fled the area in a red Jeep Cherokee with unknown plates that was last seen headed on the New Jersey–bound Staten Island Expressway, according to police. Police said the suspects unsuccessfully tried to enter a smoke shop at 1949 Richmond Ave before the homicide.
