Police say 4-year-old Jahmeik Modlin was starved to death in Harlem – Parents charged

NYPD responded to a report of an unresponsive child on Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard around 7:45 p.m. on October 13. According to reports the victim 4-year-old Jahmeik Modlin died the following morning.

According to CBC the child was severely malnourished, hypothermic and had what appeared to be burn marks on his chest, according to police sources.

The parents of Jahmeik Modlin, Nytavia Ragsdale, 26, and Laron Modlin, 25, were initially charged last month with second-degree manslaughter. They have now been indicted on charges of second-degree murder, prosecutors announced on November 6th.
