NYPD officer Adeed Fayaz was off-duty and attempting to purchase an SUV that he found on Facebook Marketplace on February 4th

Police said Fayaz had more than $20,000 in cash when the suspect put him in a headlock. Fayaz managed to escape the grip when the suspect began shooting and struck Fayaz in the head. The victim’s brother-in-law grabbed Fayaz gun and began shooting at the suspect but missed.

Fayaz was rushed to Brookdale Hospital where he died of his injuries on February 7th.

38-year-old Randy Jones, was arrested after he attempted to evade capture by fleeing to Rockland County and charged with first degree murder.
