Police responded to a shooting at an apartment building at 226 East 203rd St. on February 10th at  5:13 a.m.

On arrival police located Saida Bonilla Mejia, 40, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to her torso, her 16-year-old family member suffering from a gunshot wound to his backside and the 8-year-old was shot in the arm. 

Saida was rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased. The 16-year-old was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, and the 8-year-old to Jacobi Hospital. Both boys are in stable condition.

37-year-old Rosvin A. Mejia Castillo was arrested and is facing a number of charges including murder, attempted murder, criminal possession of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child.
