NYPD responded to a 911 call at 3559 Holland Avenue on March 18th at approximately 1:30pm.

Police arrived to find Stephaun Stewart suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso. Stewart was rushed to Jacobi Hospital where he died of his injuries.

According to reports the victim and a woman had gotten into an argument at a Dunkin’ Donuts over social distancing. The woman left and allegedly called her boyfriend who fatally shot Stewart in the street.

Police said Stewart immigrated from Jamaica in December 2021, and had no criminal record in the city.

Police are still searching for the shooter, who is described as a Black man last seen wearing a red hooded sweatshirt. Anyone with any information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).

Update April 13th
Santiana Rodriguez, 18, of Brooklyn, arrested on April 11th and charged with murder in relation to the death of 24-year-old Stephaun Stewart. Police are still looking for the male suspect who they believe fired the gun.
