On the morning of February 4th, a motorist driving near the Union Turnpike exit by Cunningham Park spotted 57-year-old Emmanuel Moncoeur lying in the grass near the tree line.
According to reports, the motorist pulled over and called 911. Police from the 111th Precinct in Bayside responded to the scene, finding Moncoeur face down with head injuries. He was also discovered to be hogtied, with his hands and feet bound together. EMS pronounced him dead at the scene.
An autopsy later confirmed that his death was a homicide caused by blunt force trauma to the head, as determined by the city’s Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
