NYPD said two 5-year-old children were found dead in a Bronx apartment at 240 East 175th St. between Monroe and Topping avenues in Tremont on Dec. 18th.

The boy and girl twins, George and Gianna Katanka, were pronounced dead at the scene. The mother of the twins allegedly told police the children were cold and not moving in their beds. She had told police the children were sick before their deaths.

On March 14th 2023 the city Medical Examiner announced the cause of death was smothering, and the manner of death a homicide.

No arrests had been made in connection to the deaths at this time.
