Two charged in connection with the fatal Bronx shooting of Emilio Rosas

On February 17, 2025, police responded to a 911 call about gunfire at 6:21 p.m. near 717 East 187th St. in Belmont.

On arrival they found 56-year-old Emilio Rosas shot in the chest outside a bodega, unconscious and unresponsive. Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at Saint Barnabas Hospital.

Authorities believe a verbal altercation may have occurred before the shooting. No arrests have been made, and the investigation continues.

On the following day police arrested 62-year-old Tony Harris and charged him with second-degree murder and 35-year-old Shantelle Degout was charged with first-degree manslaughter.
