Police responded to the report of a stabbing at 88-27 187 Place on June 12th at around 5:00pm.

Police arrived to find 29-year-old Neraz Roberts, suffering from stabbing and slashing wounds to his hands and back. Police said the murder weapon was a machete.

50-year-old Mahadeo Sukhnandan, the victim’s uncle was arrested and charged with murder. Suknandan told police that he killed Roberts because “His whole life he wanted to kill me.”

Sukhnandan allegedly told the court “I went downstairs, kicked open his door and asked him why he wants to kill me. He poked me with something, and I chopped him three times.”

According to a neighbour the family was fighting over ownership of the house after Suhnandan’s mother-in-law died from COVID a few years ago.
