NYPD were called to East 138th Street on January 10th at approximately 9:25am.

On arrival, police located 14-year-old Caleb Rijos suffering from stab wounds. Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny said the victim was alone on the sidewalk when the suspect came up to him and attacked without any warning or reason.

Rijos was rushed to Lincoln Hospital, where he died of his injuries.

As a result of the investigation, police have arrested Waldo Mejia, 29, and charged him with second-degree murder, first-degree manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon.
