Police said 14-year-old corner Justin Streeter had just stopped at a deli in the area of East 128th Street and Park Avenue on July 19th at approximately 4:30 when the boys were shot by an unknown suspect.
Police said Streeter was trying to flee on his push scooter when he was struck in the head and his friend was struck in the leg. The teens were rushed to Harlem Hospital where Streeter died of his injuries on July 20th. The second victim is in stable condition.
NYPD said the suspect fled west on 128th Street toward Madison Avenue and was wearing a grey sweatshirt and blue jeans.
Update: A 17-year-old male turned himself in to police on July 25th, accompanied by his mother and lawyer. Police have charged the teen with murder, attempted murder, two counts of assault and two counts of criminal use of a firearm. The teen who will not be named lives in Manhattan.
