Police were called to the report of a shooting a block from University Prep Charter High School at around 1:45 p.m on April 8th.

Two teens were shot in the leg and expected to survive. The third teen Angellyh Yambo, 16, was struck in the torso and died of her injuries.

NYPD Commissioner Keechant said, “Early in our investigation, it appears that the brazen criminals opened fire during a dispute. What I can say with confidence is NYPD detectives will work tirelessly to bring those responsible for this to justice.”

Police said the suspect was standing on the southeast corner of E. 156 Street and Saint Ann’s Avenue when he started “gesturing to somebody” across the street. It was then that the gentleman on the east side of the street pulled out a gun and fired in the westbound direction.

According to the New York Post, Homicide detectives and the NYPD crime scene unit identified a suspect and were executing a search warrant early April 9th at the 17-year-old suspect’s home.

Police said the black Polymer 80 9 mm Ghost Gun was recovered after 17-year-old Jeremiah Ryan allegedly tossed it out of his fourth-floor apartment in the Bronx.

A gofundme has been created to help the family of Angellyh Yambo with funeral expenses.

Update: Jeremiah Ryan, 17 will be tried in supreme court, not in family court as a juvenile. Had he been tried as a juvenile he would only have faced up to 5 years in prison.
