A 17-year-old boy was arrested on October 22 in connection with the fatal shooting of 26-year-old Darrel Rodriguez at the 7th Avenue subway station on October 17.
According to investigators, Rodriguez reportedly asked the teenager to stop smoking on the northbound E train platform. The teen allegedly responded by shooting Rodriguez in the chest before fleeing on foot.
Rodriguez was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
Due to the suspect’s age, his identity has not been released. He faces charges of murder and illegal possession of a weapon and a loaded firearm.
