Police were called to the report of a shooting at a vacant building located on Eldert Lane near Dumont Avenue on October 11th just before 11:00pm.

Police said security footage shows two males carrying the victim out to the front of the building where they waited for EMS.

Raelynn Cameron, 17, was rushed to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center, where she was pronounced deceased.

According to reports, Raelynn was hanging out with her adopted cousin who lives in the high-rise. The cousin invited some friends over, but it’s unclear why Cameron was shot.

The victim’s mother Cassandra Adams believes the shooting was not an accident and that her daughter was killed for rejecting a boy’s advances.

Update: Javone Duncan, 22, has been arrested and charged with her murder. According to reports, Duncan was flirting with Cameron, and when she dismissed his advances he shot her once in the chest. Duncan denies that he wasn’t the one who pulled the trigger.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477),
