NYPD responded to New York University Hospital, on Monsay April 25th after learning that 3-month-old Cairo Sanchez-Dixon died at 10:40am. According to reports, the victim’s father Ceferino Sanchez, 34, Took his daughter to NYU Hospital following an incident on Sunday night at their apartment in the Vladeck Houses on the Lower east side.

Police said doctors determined the infant suffered fractures on the sides and back of the skull in the beating where the infant was punched in the face.

NYPD arrested Sanchez on Tuesday April 26th, and charged him with murder, manslaughter, reckless assault on a child and assault.

According to NYdailynews, Sanchez was involved in the death of a 33 day old infant back in 2006, in Hudson County, N.J. He was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, however, a grand jury ultimately declined to indict him and the charges were dropped.
