According to police, the shooting occurred shortly after 9:45 a.m. near the intersection of Powell Street and Belmont Avenue on Christmas eve.

On arrival police discovered a 46-year-old man who had been shot in the chest.

The victim was transported to Brookdale Hospital in critical condition, where he later died from his injuries. Authorities say no arrests have been made, and the investigation is still ongoing.

Police are reportedly looking for a Black male who was last seen wearing a yellow and black hoodie. Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). All tips are confidential.
