48-Year-Old Man Fatally Stabbed in Melrose Stairwell, Second Victim Injured

NYPD responded to a stabbing at 341 East 162nd Street in Melrose on Saturday, November 8, at approximately 11:25pm.

On arrival, police located a 48-year-old man lying face down on a stairwell landing between the sixth and seventh floors.

Investigators determined that the man had suffered a stab wound to the neck. EMS pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. His name has not yet been released as authorities await notification of his relatives.

Investigators said a second victim, a 39-year-old man, was located nearby with cuts to his arm. He was transported by EMS to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln, where he was listed in stable condition.

Police took a 33-year-old man for questioning. Police say any potential charges will depend on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
