NYPD announced on March 26th that an 83-year-old man who was pushed onto subway tracks in Manhattan a week ago has died from his injuries, and the suspect in the attack now faces upgraded charges. The victim has been identified as Richard Williams.
Police say the victim was standing on a subway platform when a stranger shoved him from behind onto the tracks. The same suspect also pushed a 30-year-old man moments earlier before fleeing the scene. Both victims were hospitalized following the incident.
Authorities later identified and arrested the suspect, aided by surveillance footage and public tips. Initially charged with attempted murder and assault, he is now facing a murder charge following the victim’s death.
