A Brooklyn woman has been arrested for her role in a deadly hit-and-run that killed a pregnant woman in late May.

Police say 28-year-old Chaquasia Pigford was taken into custody on Wednesday in connection with the death of 32-year-old Tiffany Cifuni from Queens. The incident happened just after midnight on May 24 in Bedford-Stuyvesant, following a minor car accident.

According to investigators, Cifuni got out of her SUV to inspect the damage after a small crash with another vehicle, a Chevy Trax. That’s when the driver of the Chevy allegedly hit the gas, ran her over, and dragged her a distance before speeding off down a one-way street in the wrong direction.

The suspect’s car went on to hit a parked SUV and then crashed into another vehicle, injuring a 38-year-old woman. Cifuni was rushed to the hospital but did not survive.

The Chevy Trax was later found abandoned.

Pigford now faces a long list of serious charges, including second-degree murder, manslaughter, leaving the scene of a fatal crash, reckless driving, and unlicensed operation.
